APPROACH
I think that it is important to view the body as a whole unit and do not believe in specializing in treating just one body part. Any part of the body that is restricted can impair your movement and can cause pain. Our bodies are interconnected and when one part is not moving correctly, the compensations can be far-reaching. The body possesses an amazing innate ability to compensate. Often times, when pain appears without the presence of trauma, it is due to the body’s inability to further compensate.
I use a careful system of assessment that aims to precisely identify the underlying cause of the problem. You will be taken through a movement examination and a very detailed and precise examination of the movement's quality of your body by seeing and feeling your joints and muscles through diagnostics.
Through the identification of these underlying deeper issues, we may facilitate and optimize healing and performance.
Joint Mobilization and Manipulation
Manual therapy techniques are skilled hand movements intended to improve tissue extensibility; increase range of motion; induce relaxation; mobilize or manipulate soft tissue and joints; modulate pain, and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, or restriction.
Myofascial release and trigger point therapy
Freedom of movement is important no matter who you are. Manual therapy mobilizes skeletal muscle through improving blood, oxygen, and lymphatic circulation. Targetting trigger points can reduce muscular tension and provide pain relief.
Dry Needling and Intramuscular stimulation
A neurophysiological evidence-based treatment technique using sterile fusiform needles. Dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, normalizes biochemical and electrical dysfunction of motor endplates, and facilitates an accelerated return to active rehabilitation.
Activation
It is critical for individuals with injury to correct movement patterns by selecting appropriate muscle activation. We often see inefficient movement patterns cause re-injury and frustration. We try to understand your individual biomechanics to address future problems.
Mobility
At this stage, if there are any tissue restrictions identified we may prescribe a mobility program. These may include but are not limited to static and dynamic stretches, self-mobilization techniques, and nerve gliding/flossing.

Specific strenghening
With proper diagnosis and treatment, it is important to begin strengthening activities. Soft tissue loading is often an important part of the remodelling phase after injury. These exercises will be prescribed based on your particular needs.
functional movements
Specific coordination and retraining movement patterns are important aspects of returning to your normal. Whether it be back to everyday activities, work, or sport we've got you covered.
Ongoing Self-Management
We teach you the necessary skills to prevent the risk of re-injury. Our job is to prevent you from coming back to us anytime soon!
Achieving your Individual Goals
We want to help you achieve your goals. Run your first 5km? Go for a hike on your holiday in Peru? Let us know how we can help you, and we can progress you onto a performance optimization program.
